Second album by Mark Fell's new guise on the eMego sublabel of the same name. It follows suit largely from the stellar first drop on the label, exploring House tropes with a clarity and precision that is often absent from contemporary genre releases. Side A's piece, "X," opens with a chopped vocal sample and stuttering drums, ultimately blooming into a propulsive and downright fun piece of music, replete with whirlwind synths and meticulous but catchy drum programming. "Y" functions similarly, with a cut-up vocal sample serving as the lynchpin around which sultry arpeggios congregate. It's really fun to hear Fell cut loose on these releases while sacrificing none of the compositional prowess and creative thinking that define his more high-minded work of recent years.
