      Most of the sounds that form Divisions of Space are part of the conversation that different percussive timbres (metal, plastic, wood) keep each other moving in constant motion the entire theme. The extreme manipulation of these elements transform the clean percussion in something diferent using chambers slowed in dark, unsettling drones and dramatic subwoofer effects. The Division of Space slight underground melodies endow a strange aerial feeling. At the end of the track, the human voice brings us back to earth. BIO: Pangea is the project of avant-garde music of the spanish musician Juan Antonio Nieto. Pangea experiment with harsh sounds, with them he create rich textures in shades wrapped in hypnotic atmospheres. "The main idea in my music is about the power of evocative sounds outside the usual elements in most of the musical compositions such as the pace or melody, different timbres are to sustain themselves and will be the relationship between them that the dowry of excitement to work looking at the listener a complicity with the sounds that make up the membership, these sounds harsh, even irritating in themselves, acquire a totally different dimension in combination with each other.

      "ten roleplays" is a pretext to release unassorted tracks that i accumulated over the years 2000-2007 and that never fitted into an album, for lack of stylistic unity. ranging from ambient looped guitar improvisations (tracks 2, 10) to more standard electronica (tracks 1, 3, 7) or even house (track 9), their only common link is that they almost all contain my guitar playing and some field recordings i made, sometimes heavily processed and unrecognizable. those ten tracks are like ten roleplays, with me ending up in several styles in a schizophrenic way, always oscillating between my love of guitar and my love of computer.

      sixty six minutes of non stop dubby and progressive house music, more based on my guitar than synthesizers. not your dancefloor killer here (though sometimes...), but a good alternance of house with some more atmospheric moments. this is my laptop computer live set from 2005, which i slightly edited to smoothen up some imperfections from when it was performed at club mnd in naha, okinawa. a good idea of what you can do with this wonderful software, ableton live. only eight tracks of audio clips looping together and driven with a midi controller. of course, my guitar is everywhere, many elements appear more than once, and some even ended up into other tracks i made for the album above. it says it in the title, the big fun was to play with all sorts of audio clips, almost all home made, and to put them in rows and series, like you would do with beads, reusing this element here for that part there, self quoting myself, and also borrowing two samples: one from the beegees, "staying alive', and one from hassan hakmoum, "the gift of the gnawas". if you download it, just make sure that you burn your cd with no gaps between part1 and part2, and it will flow smoothly for one hour and six minutes.

      it was the end of the summer, in 2005, and i had finished a large bulk of material (aurora borealis and night currents, most notably) and i was unsure about the validity of my music at that point. looking back on the dozens of hours of material, i was convinced that i was unable to produce quality music without the aid of a computer. to put myself to the creative test, i set out to record an album using only the most basic tools i had when i first began making tapes in 1997...electric and acoustic guitar, some effects pedals, my lowrey organ and my technics m11 cassette deck. the result turned into one of the most artistically perfect moments i've ever had, very very personal and very very real. no frills, just me at home on my original instruments. i followed these successful sessions immediately with more recordings in this same approach, which resulted in the of the apple and sun white sun albums. the milieu album remains self-titled because it's the truest embodiment of who i am as a musician, where i've been, and how i want to communicate through my work all of these things. it's a language without words to me. -milieu

      tibbar says - the progressive innovations ep by bell labs is without a doubt some of the most sparse, spooky sounding electro this particular writer has ever heard. i found myself very uncomfortable listening to this which, in this instance, is a pretty good thing. very simplistic at points, reminding one of some of mouse on mars or matmos' earlier works, this little ep is chock full of some slowly mutating, dancey goodness. you will find that you never know quite what to think or expect with this recording. that is really its most outstanding quality, its inability to be nailed down or figured out. when you do hear things that resemble sounds from the outside world, it's like a welcome guest come for tea. all in all, a very curious & interesting debut that leaves one curious about a sophomore release.

      bazaar makes his experimedia debut with a phenominal ep, 'pacha's ale'. focusing on tribal rhythms and dissonant tonalities, bazaar weaves a smoky and dense tapestry of crunchy beats, samples, found sounds, and deep bass over the course of the ep's 31 minutes. the simplicity of the musical arrangements, and trance-inducing hand percussion, may lend one to make initial comparisons to 'dream-o-rama'. however, what we have here is a work that is less industrial but more focused than 'op-ep: requiem', truly the closest kin to 'pacha's ale'. the fire and raw vigor that allows bazaar's (and his alias ascalaphe's) music to stand out from the crowd is not merely intact, but more pronounced here than ever before in his catalog of work.

      words like abstract, absurd and weird are used everyday to describe the unknown or unusual. hydroplane's debut lp for experimedia is all of those things and more. shuffling, gurgling beats spiral around skeletal arpeggios and awkwardly sliced samples, creating a demented taffy-like effect over the albums 11 tracks. pieces like "argag" create such an air through the lunatic repetition of voices and playful mallet sounds, that the listener often feels as though some powerful psychadelic drug has been slipped to them unknowingly approximately 20-40 minutes ago. by the time "morguray" drops, you've had sufficient time to pour yourself a cold beverage and rub ice on your confused brain, as you watch the sunset from a deckchair on a white beach. finally, the lp's closer, "outro", ultimately leaves the listener feeling drained and yet oddly fulfilled... ready for whatever comes next.

      from the second you hit play, you know it's on. this ep is a 37 minute no-holds-barred attack on your eardrums. the beats are relentless in their insistence, and the melodies and pads are about as overflowing and volcanic as you could imagine. simply put, this is expressionist drill 'n' bass. the songs are extremely glitchy and fast-paced, yet hang in the air like a haze around your sphere of perception. thin, bell-like chiming and strumming floats on a thick rockbase of orgy-like percussion. "drown in lena river" takes you on a ride through a funhouse of contrasting organic plant-life, while "owiiff" seems to struggle just to maintain its own static form. the pieces come off, ultimately, as having a natural child-like wonder, and an awe and a playfulness that other artist struggle to pretentiously invent in their music.

      muzak from hell... 60's spy themes... the club scene from fire walk with me... these are all things that could maybe come close to describing "onublauxe", the opening track from brtlmn's 'quinine' ep. with this work, brtlmn has broken even his own threshold for the strange and awkward, yet the heart of the recording is surprisingly lucid and stripped down. this is not throwing feces at a canvas to see if it will stick. this is, on many levels, the art of re-constructing deconstruction. at times, the music subtracts itself into just a lonely slow oscillating rhodes. at times, it builds itself into a chaotic mashup of what seems like different takes on a theme. brtlmn even dares to venture into the land of hip-hop... with stunningly tasteful and head-nodding results. this is simultaneously brtlmn's most accessible and abstract work to date, and only makes the listener more intrigued in what lies ahead.
